Americas

Cupped by the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean on the West and the cooler Atlantic Ocean to the East, the Arctic Ocean to the north and the Antarctic in the south, the Americas cover 22,600,000mi² and make this a truly vast continent. The northern countries of Canada, Mexico and United States epitomise its diversity.

A journey to North America often begins in one it’s many unique cities such as New York, Memphis, San Francisco, Vancouver or Mexico City. A welcome retreat could then ensue in one of the vast wildernesses that can be found in parts of Canada, Alaska and in the National Parks of the USA. The beautiful islands of Hawaii are each very different and form a wonderful itinerary in their own right or can be a great addition to most US or Canadian vacations. The ancient Mayan temples bring a fascinating and cultural aspect to a holiday in Mexico, especially if staying at one of their many extensive beach resorts.

Central America has just seven countries but it has everything any discerning traveller would look for in a holiday. Panama, best known for its canal, is also home to some of the world’s most pristine areas of rainforest. Belize is a diving and snorkelling paradise with the world’s second largest barrier reef and although English speaking, it is in essence unmistakably Caribbean. Costa Rica, with its excellent tourist infrastructure, is nothing short of a nature lover’s paradise. Coastal jungles with an abundance of exotic wildlife, natural beaches and volcanic peaks are all sure to please.

The thirteen countries that make up Latin America in the south offer a myriad of touring options. Brazil is host to the world’s largest party – the Rio carnival. The border of Bolivia and Peru is home to the world’s largest navigable lake – Lake Titicaca. The Amazon is the world’s largest rainforest and spans over half of the countries that make up Latin America. The world’s driest desert, The Atacama, reaches across the borders of Chile and Bolivia and of course, how could I not mention the amazing wildlife of the Galapagos or the UNESCO World Heritage listed Machu Picchu – just one of eleven sites they have listed in Peru alone.

Finally, the laid-back, balmy islands of the Caribbean are perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The Grenadines are best described as jewel-like stepping stones in the crystal warm waters of the Caribbean sea. The yachts moored in St.Barts sets a tone of exclusivity and sophistication and many islands including Barbados and Antigua are rich in heritage and tradition.
